舊金山灣區中國統一促進會（統促會）、「重返和平」、「粉紅代碼」等社區組織和反戰團體，周日在三藩市華埠花園角集會，聲討聯邦眾議院議長普洛西（Nancy Pelosi），抗議其日前執意訪台挑釁中國的行為，並現場收集請願書簽名，要求普洛西辭職。
活動組織者稱，普洛西於8月2日不顧各界的反對，以及在中國政府的多次警告下執意訪台，違背中美三個聯合公報的承諾。
統促會英文秘書張藍真是集會主持人之一，她指出，「普洛西這次魯莽的挑釁之舉導致了台海關係的緊張，美中友好關係破裂加深，直接影響了在美華人華僑。」她補充道，「普洛西作為具有高度政治敏感的美國政府第三號人物，她在台灣發表的聲明和行徑，已經違背美方50年前在中美三個聯合公報中作出的承諾，包括世界上只有一個中國，美不可與台灣發展官方關係等。」
統促會副理事長黃楚文說，中美關係的好壞直接影響了所有僑胞，「我們希望中美相互尊重，和平共處。中國人自古不惹事，但也不怕事。」
駐美中華總會館總董關家澄因事未能出席昨日集會，由代總董黃國康到場，他稱「作為身在美國的僑胞，希望中美關係友好，希望美國政府能重視仇視亞裔問題，讓華人社區得以安居樂業。」
退休華裔加州高等法院法官及「重返和平」組織（Pivot to Peace）創始人鄧孟詩（Julie Tang）表示，希望拜登總統重新調整對華政策，「希望美國把中國視為朋友和潛在盟友，因為中國不是敵人，也不是威脅。」「重返和平」另一位創始人兼此次集會主持蕭思華（Sheila Xiao）呼籲，民眾參與簽名請願，要求普洛西下台。她稱，普洛西由三藩市選民選出，代表三藩市出任聯邦眾議員，她的首要任務應當是解決三藩市的諸多問題，而不是一意孤行，引發前所未有的危機，使中美關係惡化，甚至可能導致軍事衝突，製造國際動盪。
各組織還稱，普洛西在國會休會期間返回選區，屆時可能會組織進一步的抗議。
集會主要召集組織還有知名反戰團體「粉紅代碼」（CODE PINK）、、「退伍軍人和平會」（Veterans of Peace）、「阻止戰爭並終止種族歧視聯盟」（ANSWER Coalition）等等。眾人之後還在醒獅團帶領下在華埠街頭遊行傳達信息。

Community organizations and anti-war groups such as the San Francisco Bay Area Alliance for Peaceful Reunification, Pivot to Peace, Code Pink, and others rallied in San Francisco Chinatown’s Portsmouth Square on Sunday to denounce House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. They protested her deliberately provocative visit to Taiwan. They collected signatures for a petition that demanded Pelosi resign as Speaker.
The organizers of the event said that Pelosi, ignoring opposition from various sectors in the community and the repeated warnings from the Chinese government, had insisted on visiting Taiwan on August 2 in violation of the commitments made in the three Sino-US Joint Communiques.
Zhang Lanzhen, the English secretary of the Alliance for Peaceful Reunification, pointed out that “Pelosi’s reckless and provocative act has led to tensions in the Taiwan Strait; the rupture of the friendly relationship between the United States and China has deepened. This directly affects Chinese in the United States.” She added, “In a politically sensitive position of being third-in-succession for the U.S. Presidency, her statements and actions in Taiwan have violated the commitments made by the U.S. side in the three Sino-U.S. Joint Communiques of 50 years ago, There is only one China; the United States should not develop official relations with Taiwan.”
Huang Chuwen, vice-chairman of the Alliance for Peaceful Reunification, said that Sino-US relations directly affects all Chinese in America. “We hope that China and the United States will respect each other and coexist peacefully. Since ancient times, the Chinese do not initiate trouble, but are not afraid of responding to trouble.”
Guan Jiacheng, the general director of the Chinese Association in the United States, was unable to attend yesterday’s meeting due to business affairs, so Robert Wong, the acting general manager, was present. He said, “As an overseas Chinese in the United States, I hope that China and the United States have friendly relations, and that the United States government will pay attention to the issue of anti-Asian hate so that the Chinese community live and work in peace.”
Julie Tang, a retired California Superior Court judge and founder of Pivot to Peace, expressed the hope that President Biden will readjust its China policy, “I hope the United States will see China as a friend and potential ally because China is neither an enemy nor a threat.” Sheila Xiao, another founder of Pivot to Peace and M.C. of the rally, called on the public to sign a petition calling for Pelosi to step down. She said that Pelosi was elected by San Francisco voters to represent San Francisco. Her priority should be to solve many problems in San Francisco, not to go it alone and cause an unprecedented crisis, worsening Sino-US relations, creating international unrest, and possibly leading to military conflict.
The groups also said further protests could be organized when Pelosi returns to her constituency during the congressional recess.
The main convening organizations of the rally are the well-known anti-war groups CODE PINK, Veterans For Peace, ANSWER Coalition and others. The crowd then marched on the streets of Chinatown, led by a Lion Dance group to convey their message.
