California Superior Court Judge Julie Tang reporting from HK on 9-20-23: Thanks Johnson. I’ll be visiting the Nanjing Museum with a group from the the Comfort Women “ Justice Coalition. We have partnered with the Nanjing Museum, the University of Southern California Shoah Foundation , and the Korean American community to produce an AI powered pilot program featuring an interactive interview with a “comfort woman” survivor. The program which has already been displayed at the Nanjing Museum for a trial period is run on a technological called “Dimension in Testimonies “ created by the USC Shoah Foundation. It allows a viewer to have a virtual interaction with a “comfort woman”survivor. This is a project that has taken us 5 years to create. CWJC initiated this effort before the pandemics. We brought in the author of “Chinese Comfort Women” Vassar University professor Pei Pei Qiu to be our project director to monitor and direct the program. We plan to deploy this program in the US after the successful launch of this project in the Nanjing Museum. We want the world to never forget the horrific history of the “comfort women” and using the technology to engage with and talk to them even long after they are gone. I’d love to buy one of the BYDs you mentioned but I doubt if the US would allow it to be imported. As an American consumer, I’m really pissed that we are severely deprived of access to the most essential and inexpensive technologies such as 5G and EV that are now available to the rest of the world. Our political leaders deploy tactics that our own law specifically prohibits, tactics called “unfair business practices and competition.” By putting a National Security label on these regulations we crush our competitors by any means necessary, and totally neglect the greater need of our citizens. Who do these leaders think they are serving? We need to demand availability to better communications technology, better and cheaper vehicles that young people can afford, better high speed rails that can take us around the country faster cheaper and safer. What have we gained in these last 5 years over China that has direct and indirect benefits to us Citizens? I can’t think of one thing. If someone does please let me know.
