California Superior Court Judge Lillian Sing (retired) on Death of Senator Feinstein: I am truly saddened by Dianne Feinstein’s death. It is indeed a true loss for all of us. She was one of the lone voices who was courageous enough to speak up against anti-China policies in Washington.

She defended China and spoke out against Trump and others who scapegoated China for the Coronavirus.

She was a China friend even way back when she was on the SF Board of Supervisors as well as when she was our SF Mayor.

She loved China and above all believed in people-to-people relationships. I remember how she was one of the few elected officials who visited China in the early 1980s and how her late husband, Richard Blum, even got away from official businesses to take a jog to visit my late Uncle Frank who lived in Shanghai where the common people lived. I have so many fond memories of her.

As SF Mayor, she formed the SF -Shanghai Sister City committee & appointed me to that committee. In 2005, we celebrated SF Shanghai Sister Committee’s 25 Anniversary and travelled to China together along with her beloved late husband, Dick Blum, and Governor Gavin Newsom. She stressed the importance of the US China relationship. She believed China and US shared many of the same values and interests, including combating climate change, expanding trade opportunities, and countering nuclear proliferation. Throughout her life, she helped promote a better US China relationship. We will miss her terribly.
