Huang & Su bring white backlash in the US? By Prof. Ling-chi Wang of UC Berkeley.
This is a very interesting and potentially alarming video showing the meteoric rise of both wealth and power of two Chinese American tech leaders – Jansen Huang of Nvidia and Lisa Su of AMD – in the world of semiconductors. By virtue of their racial origin (Chinese), their success can be easily be the source of jealousy and suspicion, even allegations of unfair competition, subversion, espionage’s and treason.
I know I am treading on thine ice and even paranoia.
Nevertheless, the history of Chinese in the U.S. and US-China relations since the first Chinese immigrant arrived in California during the mid-19th-century Gold Rush is full of examples, individually and collectively. To be sure, the U.S. is a land of opportunity, but the road to success for most Chinese Americans is paved with landmines and unprovoked racist backlashes, even for the few ones who are fortunate enough to reach the top of their callings.
