1882 Chinese Exclusion Act, its newest version: Americans linked to the US in Hong Kong or mainland China will be ordered to leave immediately if they fall in love with Chinese citizens, it was revealed yesterday. 1882年《排華法案》最新版本:昨天披露,在香港或中國大陸與美國有聯繫的美國人,若愛上中國公民,將被勒令立即離開.
The new secret US government policy applies to American government personnel, and to their family members, and to any contractors with security clearances, AP reported.
All “romantic or sexual relationships with Chinese citizens” are forbidden, the AP reported, quoting sources who did not want their names mentioned.
As well as staff in the Embassy and consulates in across mainland China, it also applies to the 1,000-plus staff at the consulate in Hong Kong.
BIDEN POLICY
The confidential policy was first proposed by the Biden Administration in summer last year, the sources said. But it was promulgated by widely disliked U.S. Ambassador Nicholas Burns before he left China in January, the sources said. It is not clear why he launched the new rules on his way out.
People who already have Chinese partners may apply for exemptions, AP reported.
It is unclear how the policy can be implemented in Hong Kong. Residents here are technically citizens of China, but multiple passports are common.
The Biden Administration fostered an extremely hostile attitude to China, pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into preparations for a war on the country.
In contrast, the Trump administration is divided—with Trump himself claiming to be the “pro-peace president” while Department of Defence Chiefs Pete Hegseth and Elbridge Colby want to move ahead with Biden war plans.
