What Do China’s Victory Day Commemoration & SCO Summit Tell The World? By MARIO CAVOLO SEP 8 2025 中國紀念衛國戰爭勝利70週年暨上合組織高峰會向世界傳遞了什麼訊息

I was recently invited for an interview on CRI Radio to share my thoughts on China’s Victory Day Commemoration and the Shanghai SCO Summit held a few days earlier with world leaders from dozens of nations around the world.

Below you will find the transcript of my answers and here is the link to the CRI Radio show: And this is the link to the clip:

As an American who has lived in China for 25 years, how do you view the significance of China’s V-Day commemorations from an international perspective? What kind of message do you think they send to the world today?

More and more people are like myself, coming to truly cherish the security and stability and peace found in where we live, which is here in China and that it is the Chinese govt who has risen over these 30 years in our modern age to its status as a global superpower, yet which is the first global superpower to have done so in peace without starting war with other nations, without dropping bombs on other nations, and as we now see happening once again in Ukraine and Gaza, endless wars being provoked and led by the United States to preserve its power & control with no regard for humanity. So we have these two deeply contrasting powers on opposite sides of the spectrum of war & peace, with China offering the safety, stability & peace to other nations, which of course was emphasized recently at the SCO Summit. This was followed by China’s Victory Day commemorations which then sent the 2nd message out which is that we are fully armed and broadly armed, not to attack anyone, but to defend our people, to defend safe & peaceful way forward. The only people who don’t agree are in my view just crazy people who want more war, starting of course with many western leaders

Q2

Having observed China’s engagement with the international community over many years, how do you see the Global Governance Initiative President Xi proposed at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which emphasizes “cooperation and shared responsibility”? In your view, what practical role could it play in reducing tensions and fostering trust among countries?

Well again, I see the GGI at the SCO Summit going hand in hand with the message of China’s Victory Day commemorations. I am reminded of Xi Jinping’s speech last October in San francisco at APEC 2023 conference. Back then he told the room, we will never attack another nation, this is remarkable and this is the global shift

supported by BRICS supported by the Global Governance Initiative, supported by every single world leader who showed up to attend the Shanghai SCO Summit…peace is the way forward, unfortunately the United States and its key ally Zionist Israel don’t like that, because it means they will lose their imperialist power grip on the world. People have the right to live free from fear, free from the fear of being killed because of politics

This is the global shift the entire world wants except for the United States, Zionist Israel and the EU, less than 10 countries of more than 150 countries around the world who insist on endless war and death. supported by BRICS supported by the Global Governance Initiative, supported by every single world leader who showed up to attend the Shanghai SCO Summit…peace is the way forward, unfortunately the United States and its key ally Zionist Israel don’t like that, because it means they will lose their imperialist power grip on the world. People have the right to live free from fear, free from the fear of being killed because of politics.
