Whether it’s a large social gathering, a corporate function with entertainment, or a show featuring local singers and rising artists, even one with Hawaiian music, how can you ensure it truly stands out? The answer may just be Hula dance (hula dances compliment almost any music including Chinese and English)

In my experience organizing and participating in business delegations to China, we often include two or three graceful and engaging Hula dancers. They consistently capture attention, especially when an event lacks star performers or risks feeling dull. It’s a formula that works, time and again.

I’m often surprised this isn’t embraced more in places like San Francisco.

And here’s a thought for parents: if you have a talented daughter between 12 and 18, instead of only traditional piano or ballet (which certainly have their own merits), consider Hula as a captivating and culturally rich skill that could set her apart. While female dancers are more common, a confident young man in the same age range could also find Hula uniquely rewarding—offering not just artistic expression but a distinctive angle for college applications, much like any committed extracurricular would.

我常感到意外，為何在舊金山等地區，這種做法不常見未被更廣泛地採納。

在此也給家長們一個建議：如果您有一位才華洋溢、年齡介於12至18歲的女兒，除了傳統的鋼琴或芭蕾（這些當然各有價值），不妨將草裙舞視為一項引人入勝且文化內涵豐富的才藝，這可能讓她與眾不同。雖然女性舞者較為常見，但同年齡段充滿自信的男孩也能從學習草裙舞中獲得獨特的收穫, 這不僅是一種藝術表達，更能為大學申請提供獨特的視角，就如同任何一項投入的課外活動一樣。
