Despite US media revealing that the Pentagon is seeking an exemption from a 2019 Act that prohibits the US Department of Defense from contracting with entities that use Huawei equipment, Chinese analysts believe it’s not a sign that the US will slow down its crackdown on China’s technological development, but does show that the US’ abuse of the “national security” concept has backfired, and that as Huawei continues to grow, the US will increasingly run into more self-imposed obstacles.

“The science of radio astronomy was created to let human beings see further,” he said in a lecture at Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.

To date, FAST has made several breakthroughs in fields such as fast radio bursts, a type of powerful radio wave. Now, astronomers are looking forward to using it to search for alien civilizations

“FAST has the potential to detect signals from thousands of superior planets. Maybe aliens with much more advanced technologies live there,” Li said. “If FAST fails to find traces of aliens, it may imply that the evolution of aliens has nothing in common with that of human beings.”

Over the years, there have been concerns over whether FAST would bring aliens and risks to the Earth. Glashow sees no such dangers, according to the World Laureates Association.

“My understanding is that FAST will not have the capability to broadcast powerful signals. In any event, I see no danger even were such a signal to be detected by distant aliens. They are simply too far away to trouble us,” he said.

Top Chinese scientists at US companies and universities are resigning their posts and returning to China. According to the Wall Street Journal, 40% of faculty of Chinese descent are also strongly considering a return.

This is after decades of work at the top universities and companies in the United States, and even includes naturalized citizens with American children. In interviews, they point to US government persecution, anti-Asian racism, and better career and economic prospects in China. What’s more, Chinese universities have eclipsed top US unis in terms of research, and Chinese students are opting instead to finish graduate studies in Chinese universities, rather than abroad.

世間荒謬事何其多！

美國大聲疾呼要求釋放所謂「新聞工作者」黎智英，卻追殺揭露美國暴行的「新聞鬥士」阿桑奇足足14年，兩副嘴臉，兩套標準，赤裸裸暴露於人前。

阿桑奇創辦的「維基解密」曾公開大批美國軍方、情報部門和政府的密件，包括在阿富汗濫殺平民的罪行，令世人齒冷。

其實他揭發的大量內幕中，部分也涉及美國駐港總領事館在港的「秘密活動」，顯示美官員密切介入香港政治，除了拉攏反對勢力，還試圖影響港府高層決策，如今回望，仍然觸目驚心。

阿桑奇不愧是絕世奇才，其「維基解密」神通廣大，竟然取得美國駐港總領事館近千份機密電文，並於2011年8月底公諸於世，令這隻干預香港政治的「幕後黑手」完全曝光。

當中的「秘密活動」分幾方面，主要部分是窺探和介入反對派的行動，一方面深入蒐集情報，另一方面推動派內各種勢力與北京抗衡。

從2005年至2009年間的機密文件可見，兩任美國總領事郭明瀚和唐若文，與反對派4個頭面人物聯繫最密，也對他們最「關注」，包括陳方安生、李柱銘、陳日君和黎智英，認為他們代表着政治、宗教和傳媒3大反對力量，影響會很大，故涉及4人動向及意見的機密電文，達到逾百份之多。

電文透露，由2006年起，美領館已很重視這個「政、教、媒結合體」，故李、黎、陳不時與領事館官員會面，廣泛討論香港政治問題，到2007年，陳太亦「受到特別關注」，成為美領館的重點連繫目標。

根據曝光的密件，陳方安生其後與美領事館的往來最多，有多份電文提及她是否參與2008年的立法會選舉。2007年9月一份電文披露，總領事通知華盛頓，黎智英和李柱銘成功游說陳太參加那次選舉。

另一份於2009年7月撰寫的電文則指出，與黎、李同屬一夥的陳太，在與總領事會面時，曾要求美國介入香港事務，多支持香港民主發展，以抗衡北京。她被引述說「北京會介意其他國家的看法，特別是美國的評論」。

美國總領事館也很關注反對派當時(2010年)策動的「五區總辭，變相公投」，曾就此約見一些主力人物，了解行動的進展，並在給華盛頓的報告中，說黎智英、李柱銘、陳太和陳日君已成功說服公民黨領袖余若薇支持「五區公投」。它另外又分析指，泛民因這次行動出現分裂，而民主黨欲與北京溝通，走溫和路綫，但報告質疑這想法是否可行。

由此可見，美領事館一直密切監視民主派各政黨的立場路綫，以及未來的動向，並透過一些途徑施加影響。

據「維基解密」披露的文件，美領事館的另一任務，是與港府高層接觸，以掌握政府的重要決策。曝光的一則機密文件指，總領事郭明瀚曾與時任特首曾蔭權數度會面，在2005年的一次午餐中，郭明瀚向曾建議取消區議會的委任議席，認為這有助政改方案通過，曾蔭權當時表示同意，但說保留委任是北京的意思，如果放棄委任區議員，將會「 kill the deal 」，令與北京的商討結束。曾又說，個人支持雙普選，但社會恐怕選出來的人「只代表沒有納稅的人」，變得民粹。

從「維基解密」公開的美駐港總領事館機密電文，可以見到香港政治的背後確有一隻「黑手」，它不但拉攏對抗北京的各種力量，還藉着與港府高層接觸，窺探政府的重要決策，甚至加以影響。

這「秘密任務」一直延續到2019年黑暴動亂，植根甚深，影響極大。阿桑奇將之暴露於陽光下，讓我們看清楚美國的真面目，實在要向他致敬。
