• Deputy US war minister Elbridge Colby asked Japan last week to define what role it would play in an upcoming conflict, the Financial Times reported. (1)
• The request is in line with a plan to use Taiwan as an excuse for a US war on China that Colby has been pushing for years. (2)
• Australia was also approached with the same question, with leader Anthony Albanese deflecting the question, multiple media reported. (3)
• The US last week siphoned off more than four billion dollars of public cash to spend on new underwater and amphibious landing craft designed for use in Chinese waters, enabled by clauses tucked into the text of Donald Trump’s new bill. (4)
• Western military operations have taken 28 practical steps in preparation for war, including the building of a deepwater harbor for warships, a short distance from China’s coast. (5)
• And Western media outlets are playing their role by stepping up demonization of China with the revival of stale and long-debunked narratives on “genocide” in Xinjiang and Tibet and “destruction” of Hong Kong by adoption of a law which bans foreign interference. (6)

THE UNREPORTED WAR
But first, the underlying story. Many of the reports we see about conflict in the press today are really about elements of a much bigger, virtually unreported war: the fight by the wealthy west, 13% of humanity, to maintain dominance over the rest of the world—the 87%.

This is why the west sheds crocodile tears over Ukrainians while continuing to work hard to maintain the fighting in that country. For example, the Guardian this week calling for continued fighting, as have most western media outlets. (7)

“And this confrontation itself is part of an ongoing world war, in which the West is fighting to maintain world hegemony,” said Dmitri Trenin, Director of the Institute of World Military Economics and Strategy at the Higher School of Economics. ( 8 )

Similarly, western governments are shedding crocodile tears over the horrific slaughter in Gaza, while continuing to play a role in supporting it. For continued western dominance over the world, US-Israel grip on the Middle East must be expanded.

RUNNING OUT OF TIME
Why is the west worried? Because the western powers believe time is running out for the west to take actions that will maintain their power over the world. In a 2022 book, geopolitics specialist A.B. Abrams estimated 15 years, of which 12 remain. (9)

Former British Prime Minister Liz Truss wrote a book last year arguing the west had less than ten years to save itself—now less than nine years. (10)

Colby, as a Trump appointee, has only three and a half years in power. That means there may be barely 40 months left for the west to add mayhem in Asia to stop the development of China and ensure the western powers remain all-powerful.
