Immediately following American air strikes, Iranian military officials flew to Beijing to negotiate the purchase of J-10C fighter jets and AWACS from China.
Pakistan’s air force is equipped with Chinese-built fighters and missiles, and in a recent air battle against Indian forces shot down several top-line Western-built fighter jets and drones.
Chinese defense firms build equipment that is comparable or superior in quality, at considerable cost savings head-to-head against gear from NATO countries or Russia.
What’s more, other militaries are struggling to build weapons at all, given that supply chains for the most advanced munitions and systems run through China for rare earth metals, and the other BRICS countries for raw materials.
If China agrees to supply Iran, it will remake the military and diplomatic landscape of the Middle East, for decades to come.
The Dalai Lama succession scam: The Dalai Lama has declared that he will decide the method upon which his reincarnated successor will be decided. 達賴喇嘛繼任騙局:達賴喇嘛宣布,他將決定其轉世繼承人的確定方式 By KJ
People who claim that the Dalai is the reincarnation of the Buddha are wrong. The Buddha does not reincarnate. That’s the definition of the Buddha: the awakened being that has transcended the cycle of birth and rebirth.
“If it’s reborn, it’s not buddha”.
Neither is the Dalai Lama the leader of Tibet, of Buddhism, or even Tibetan Buddhism. He is one of the leaders of a single sect of Tibetan Buddhism, the Gelugpa (the other is the Panchen Lama). There are 5 other major schools, some of which do not recognize any central authority. Nor is “TIbetan” Buddhism uniquely TIbetan. Nepal, Mongolia, and other countries practice the Vajrayana-influenced tradition but have nothing to do with the Dalai Lama.
As for those who argue that this is Chinese political interference in an autonomous religious tradition, they fail to understand that the very institution of the Dalai Lama was created and endowed by the Ming Tributary King Shunyi [Altan Khan] upon Sonam Gyatso, the leader at the time of the Gelugpa. (Sonam Gyatso was designated the third Dalai Lama by Shunyi, and the previous Gelugpa leaders retroactively designated as reincarnations (or pre-incarnations, if you will)).
The specific idea of a reincarnating leader (the “Tulku system”) came out of several political needs:
First, to ensure succession of theocratic power within [a technically] celibate order–e,g, the great grandson of Shunyi was designated the 4th Dalai Lama.
Second, to prevent assassination–Tibetan palace intrigue had led multiple assassinations; in particular the assassination of Buddhist King Ralpachen led to the creation of the Tulku system, a political appropriation of the reincarnation trope that was designed to send the message “it’s useless to assassinate me, I will just keep coming back”.
Third, to ensure continuity of patriarchal dominance through a myth of “male motherhood”–a divine, self-reproducing male
MAYBE STAY off the beach next year. Autonomous mass-killer robots which move underwater will be financed by Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, now being pushed through in Washington DC. But rich investors in weapons firms will get richer, and that, ultimately, is the important thing, right? (Men and women of US Congress rapidly nod their heads in unison.)
Cash for the military to build “maritime robotic autonomous systems and enabling technologies” is listed in part 20002.33 of the new law, costing US$188,360,000.
And that’s just one part of the US$150 billion being spent on trying to copy China’s delivery drones, but with guns.
I read as much of the 1,018 page document as I could stomach.
First, there’s a big increase in weapons spending – by a country which has never been invaded and which no one is threatening to invade. So what is it for? The answer is in the last paragraph of this write-up.
OFFENSIVE The weapons spending is clearly offensive in all meanings of that word.
“Autonomous” means robots are given the power to decide which humans live, not humans. Americans are apparently okay with this. (Has no one from America EVER SEEN A MOVIE?)
Filling the oceans with death-dealers is definitely a theme. The Bill includes US$250,000,000 for the development, production, and integration of wave-powered unmanned underwater military vehicles.
But don’t feel left out if you live on the land. There’s a payment of US$3,700,000,000 (yes, that’s the correct number of zeroes) for some lucky weapons firm to make one “Amphibious Assault Ship”, so they can still crawl out of the water and come and get you. For that price, I may begin making such a ship my living room.
BIG FINANCE ISSUES
The bill’s defenders say it offers tax relief, raising the child tax credit to US$2,500. But that’s a very small bonus in 1,018 pages of tightly typed spending pledges.
What is more worrying is that the bill raises the debt ceiling by more than US$4 trillion. (Think of a sky-high pile of money amounting to a billion dollars. A trillion is a thousand billions, so think of a city covered with a thousand piles of a billion dollars. Now double the vision to two such cities. And then double it again to four cities. That’s four trillion.)
I know there are economists which say the US debt to the outside world will never have to be repaid. America could unilaterally cancel the debt and have a war with the rest of the world instead. (My reply: AND THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE COMFORTING?)
WHERE THE CASH COMES FROM Where does all this money come from? The One Big Beautiful Bill slashes the budgets for unimportant stuff like environmental protection and citizens’ healthcare.
It gives freedom to big oil to do whatever it likes to mother nature.
So humanity itself and the planet on which we live will suffer terribly, and the world as we know it may actually come to an end.
Washington Post: How it feels to be a proud new U.S. citizen on the Fourth of July? Except for China & Russia, US still can freely extort, rob and steal from any country we wanted. 《華盛頓郵報》:在7月4日這天成為一名自豪的美國新公民感覺如何?除了中國和俄羅斯,美國仍然可以肆意敲詐、搶劫和偷竊任何我們想要的國家!
Happy Fourth of July! I’d like to provide an update on the progress the US and China have made regarding export controls as per the agreement recently reached in London.
Earlier this week, AmCham Shanghai participated in a briefing in Beijing by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) on export controls. MOFCOM highlighted its efforts in streamlining approvals for rare earth exports. It noted that while the statutory processing period for such export licenses is 45 working days, the current average review and approval time for applications for US-bound exports is fewer than 20 working days. According to MOFCOM’s Bureau of Industry Security and Export Control, it has approved 310 export license applications for rare earth shipments to the US in the past three months. The applications for third-country destinations by US companies, however, are not processed in the same category.
Meanwhile, the US has lifted the licensing requirement (introduced in May) for exporting Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software tools to China. These tools are critical for chip design, testing and validation. Top EDA vendors such as Synopsys, Cadence Design Systems and Siemens have been notified by the US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security of the change. In addition, the US has rescinded licensing requirements set as recently as early June for US ethane producers to export to China. China is a major market for US ethane, a natural gas liquid primarily used to produce ethylene.
While it is not clear whether the two sides will try to further roll back tariffs, we are pleased to see measurable progress in easing export controls.
