Today I have some time to walk around our home in Hong Kong. 2 minutes walk from our home is Tsing Yi Park. Tsing Yi Park has 12 tennis courts, a soccer field, a basketball field, a beautiful artificial waterfall, a large lotus pond, a cafe in the park, green trees, birds singing, flowers fragrant, beautiful environment, clean and well-maintained. I start thinking about those luxury homes that cost US$3-6 million in the US could not have such a beautiful front and back garden, and in HK it is free, no property tax in HK (California property tax is 2% of the house value, Hawaii is .75%). 2 minutes walk from the park is the Maritime Square Shopping Center (170 restaurants, shops and theater), on the shopping center 3rd floor is Tsing Yi MTR station. It only cost me HK$2 (30 cents) per ride any where in HK. I have to pay 10-50x more per ride to use the mass transit fares in SF. No wonder 1,000s of Chinese are returning to HK or China’s Greater Bay Area to retire every year.
