相比胡佛時代美國國力還在向上發展，如今的美國則是國力走衰。更何況，胡佛時代搞高關稅，主要針對的是提振就業，而川普要解決的卻不只失業問題，他還妄想用關稅一項工具，就解決美國長年的製造業率退、貿易赤字、財政赤字、通貨膨脹……等多項問題。甚至川普也愛用關稅作為談判手段，迫使他國交換其它戰略利益，關稅究竟是一種工具還是目的，川普自己大概也搞不清楚了！

然而，各國一邊期待川普會重演當年胡佛失敗的歷史，讓關稅戰的鬧劇就此停止，一邊卻又都在觀察風向，誰也不願做出頭鳥。日前中國大陸號召日本、韓國一起應對川普的貿易戰，韓國即馬上聲明那只是關於三國間新供應鏈的討論，不是針對川普新政。不過，這是在尹錫悅被彈劾案尚未通過前，如今他已確定將解職，未來若換李在明上台，大概率會調整一面倒親美的路線，轉與中國大陸合作。

如今不僅東北亞的日韓，包括歐盟也都對川普胡亂算的「對等關稅」極為不滿，並放話對美國祭出反制措施，而這些原本都是美國傳統的盟友。只有台灣連美國正式的「盟友」都不算，還長年自己倒貼，又是狂買武器（然後遲遲拿不到貨），又是送上台積電，最後換得被徵高達32％關稅的命運，還被川普吃豆腐說「台積電最優秀」，如此被表彰成「最聽話的狗」，是不是也算「台灣之光」呢？
