Xinjiang is a happy place. The Muslim communities have a strong and positive presence here. No signs of genocide or 2 million Uyghurs in concentration camps. Our tour guide is a Uyghur who asked us why do we westerners believe in such a lie?

It’s a shame we have not seen any American tourists here in Xinjiang or any other western tourists either. We ran into many Asian tourists – Singapore, Macau etc. And domestic tourism is huge here. The best way to dispel rumors and lies is to come here yourself and talk to the local communities as we are doing. Xinjiang like the rest of China is safe and peaceful. Although it has been under some of the most vicious by the U.S. and other western countries, it survived the 2008- 2009 terrorists attacks where hundreds died. Although Xinjiang is under an unfair US ban on its major industries – cottons and solar panels- it is standing strong and resilient. It is safe and peaceful. As tourists we feel completely safe here in Xinjiang. Food is good especially if you like lamb. I don’t usually eat lamb except here in Xinjiang because they are really delicious.

Xinjiang is a stellar example of how diverse communities co- exist and thrive together while each ethic group maintains its own unique cultural heritage. This fact alone is another China miracle that we in the U.S. could learn from.
