Why Do We Distrust the Chinese Govt? by Kenneth Roth, former head Human Rights Watch (US State Sponsored, mouthpiece of US Gov’t) 為什麼我們不信任中國政府?肯尼思·羅斯 (美國政府喉舌, 前人權觀察組織負責人) by Mario Cavolo Apr 17 2023
Below is a list of answers, six in total, to this question, by former head of HRW, Human Rights Watch, which he recently posted in Twitter. Why do we distrust the Chinese government?
I am incredulous at his answers to this question and writing up this piece as a rebuttal. This the world, the disinformation age we live in, fausted upon us by the highest level of govt, organizations & people like Roth. Its so bad I can’t even figure out at this point why the hell they even do it. So let’s go through Mr Roth’s six answers and I’ll add my comments in along the way to clarify and refute these ridiculous assertions.
Why do we distrust the Chinese government?
- Its Covid-19 cover-up.
What cover up? Just two weeks ago, I watched an interview with Dr. Redfield, former CDC Director. He said very casually and matter of factly “We know the first cases of Covid 19 in the US were back in August – September. The entire “blame China for Covid-19” narrative is one gigantic psyops propaganda machine designed to keep you thing one thing and one thing only, China is bad. It is designed as all other topics are designed to do one thing and one thing only, demonize China. Because China’s steady, amazing, rising success is a disaster and embarassment for the west, for the United States in particular. I must add in, nobody expected it. China’s rise has been far more substantial and significant than anyone had imagined would happen and, besides the serious efforts to stop it via bans & sanctions, China’s rise across the world continues unabated. We really are in a Fourth Turning period of history. Of course, I could dive much further down the rabbit hole of Covid origins, to just blame China for a “coverup” is absurd on its face and Roth know that.
- Its detention of 1M Uyghurs.
Another case of “repeat a lie for a few years and people will start to believe it.”
Friends, every time fake Uyghur oppression/genocide accussations come up, they come up without evidence and then they get debunked by at least a dozen different people including myself who do nothing more than basic research to prove the accusations are obviously false.
Here’s my counter question: Are there Uyghurs detained? Yes, I’m certain there were. Probably many thousands in response to a set of planned, coordinated terrorist attacks in Xinjiang by radical extremist Uyghur Muslims leading to many deaths & violence. There is no denying that the Chinese govt will fast & hard clamp down on such a situation and they did.
During that time, did the lives of Uyghurs become subject to extra security checks? Yes, to keep them safe, which is what any govt ought to do. We’re annoyingly checked every time we travel at airports anywhere in the world, aren’t we? Its annoying, but we live with it.
Every friend I know has personally travelled to Xinjiang and posted detailed videos for you to see on how the daily society and its security is there. Tourism to Xinjiang is 100% wide open. That doesn’t happen when you’re genociding the locals, eh?
Are there bad criminal Uyghurs in jail? Yes. There are bad criminal people in every country in jail. And guess what, their families overseas are all claiming they are all innocent. This is not unique to Uyghurs, is it? Everyone’s dad in jail is innocent, except they’re not.
Are there “1 MILLION” Uyghurs in detention? NO. First of all, what is “detention”? And by asking that question, I explain to you this is where the real propaganda begins to demonize China with fake Uyghur accusations. “detention” “concentration camps” “genocide” these are all false flag words used in the propaganda to trigger you but they are based on ZERO, and I do mean ZERO evidence. There is no such thing as any “concentration camp” for Uyghurs in Xinjiang”.
There are Uyghurs who are in prison. There are Uyghurs who attend school in the education system, that includes vocational training centers. We can add ‘in the United States at the end of this sentence” and it would be 100% accurate if we were talking about anyone in America where we also find, prisons, schools & vocational training centers. This is a normal state of affairs in any country. There is no such thing as a “detention center” in Xinjiang.
- Its shredding of Hong Kong’s freedoms.
Honestly, this is just nonsense. The govt of Hong Kong had delayed passing its NSL, National Security Law, for several years. The United States has over half a dozen National Security Laws and every country has National Security Laws. Why should Hong Kong NOT have National Security Laws. Over a period of one year, there were constant violent riotous protests on the streets of Hong Kong, many organized & funded by NED, the US. National Endownment for Democracy, which is the formed non-intelligence branch of the CIA. There was a year of violent riots and what did the Hong Kong govt and Beijing govt do in response.
They did NOT call in the military.
The Hong Kong police did not kill one single violent criminal protester in response during the violent protests.
They passed the National Security Law bringing peace & stability back to the lives of the Hong Kong People.
- Its stifling of civil society.
This accustion is propaganda to deflect because the society where civility is in rapid decline is the west, especially the United States. Its very sad. The opposite is true here in China. We live in an incredible safe, stable, steady, low crime society each & every day. Citizens of so many other countries cannot fathom such a situation. Same is true, for example, in Singapore. If you don’t want your family subject to all kinds of criminal, violent risks and other sick, twisted cultural influences, then move to a country where those problems don’t exist.
I live here in China 24 years. I can assure without any hesitation, we have more freedom here in China than any person living in the United States. I can’t think of anything Chinese people complain about they feel they are not free to do that has any bearing on their ability to pursue their interests & needs in daily life for their household. This applies to the men, to the women and to the children.
China is the largest, safe, stable, successful, capable, civil & peaceful country on the planet. Really.
- Its cozying up to war-criminal Putin.
Two wrongs don’t make a right. Many say the opposite “cozying up to war criminal the United States, of its allies” Lets not forget the ICC has tried to move forward with trying the United States for war crimes more than once, as it should. The United States responds by threatening more war crimes. If Putin is also a war criminal, so be it, two wrongs don’t make a right. If you want to take that approach, then you can complain about China cozying up to Putin no different than you can complain about Germany cozying up to the United States.
What we DO know is that the only player in this conversation who is NOT a war criminal is China. They haven’t been engaged in war with any other country in any way since the Sino-Vietnamese War in 1979, 44 years ago. They are rising in peace.
I wish to hell the other countries would figure out how to do the same and I’m sure you agree.
- Xi Jinping as president-for-life.
And Nancy Pelosi? And the government appointments in the UK? How many major politicians are in their positions for endless years? This is not a marker of good governance. I can’t think of anything less important than the machinations of govt structure or the party lines of left/right/Democrat/Republican or democracy/authoritarian in politics. These are all top line words used in discussions to keep you from knowing how the govts are really operating, which can only be seen & understood by the results they get. This type of accusation is thrown up as a distraction from the simple notion of whether or not a country’s government is doing good governance for its country, for its society, for its people, or not. The US govt has been a disaster zone for well over 20 years and this is clearly reflected in the declining state of its society on multiple fronts. For China, the opposite happens to be true during the same 20 + years period of time. Call it a coincidence if you like, it just happens to be true. The Chinese govt has never done better than during this period in our lifetimes and continues to strive forward and even better, is doing so, in peace. Its remarkable. Its also embarassing as hell to the United States and the declining imperialist west it has led. How long Xi Jin Ping stays in office is one of the least influential factors on the table to worry about.
Some Additional Points
Roth is one of the point men always pushing this idea that oppression in China is getting worse. Here’s an example. Roth and all these similar pundits were always talking about how the pandemic lockdowns were unnecessary and being used by the evil totalitarian CCP to control & oppress the people. Keep in mind, that during the pandemic lockdowns, the Chinese govt was also NOT renewing the passports of Chinese citizens. So yes, its true these things were happening, I’m not denying it.
But then what happened? As I said all along the entire three years, the pandemic lockdown polices were strictly a “public health” policy. They had ZERO to do with the govt here having any desire or interest to control & oppress the people. Sure enough, I was right. In December, the pandemic lockdowns ended with little fuss at all. The wild Covid outbreak of the lates variant Ba-1, Ba-5 ripped across the country for around two months, there was around 250,000 deaths, 95% of which were elderly with pre-existing weaknesses, and then it ended. At the same, time, Beijing re-opened the border in both directions, the govt also started renewing everyone’s passports. Life in China is back to normal and travel is everyone’s top priority after a rather rough three year pandemic lockdown period.
Folks, there is nothing particularly oppressive or strange happening in China and that’s the problem. By comparison, this makes many western countries in decline in today’s world look even worse. China is haven of safety, stability & low crime for its people just like Singapore except a zillion times bigger. Of course, there is much more work to be done and many ongoing challenges as its progress, domestic urbanization, and global expansion continues.
That’s it for today. Cheers friends, Mario
