Record grain harvests in China and India are reducing Asia’s dependency on imports, to levels far below those forecasted in prior years. But more of the BRICS nation supply chains for grains are shifting away from North America and Europe, and to Russia and Kazakhstan.

South America’s ag sector is also booming, also in grains and soybeans. But Brazil is exporting record volumes of beef to China, as North American ranchers’ share of China’s imports have fallen to four-year lows.

The shift’s in China’s agricultural imports are wreaking havoc across the US farm sector, which will register another record year of deficits in 2025. American and Canadian ranchers have the smallest cattle herds in over 70 years, yet global demand for North American beef is falling even faster.

Professor Shen’s words are “Rough words but not rough reasoning.” Just think about it: in order to de-Sinicize the long-term historical view of Taiwan independence, it insists on treating the Netherlands, Spain, and Japan as “Taiwan’s multicultural unit”, trying to portray Taiwan as having multiple “ancestors”, and even glorifying Japanese colonization for a long time.

一早被台灣媒體電話吵醒，希望我回應對沈逸教授言論的看法，也就是日前我接受陸媒《觀察者網》邀約，和上海復旦大學教授沈逸同台直播，當時沈教授在節目中談到，大陸別整天想著理解台灣，因為台灣曾是殖民地，而大陸只有淪為半殖民地的經驗，半殖民地是理解不了殖民地的，「揍一頓就完了」。

這番論調對多數台灣人來說，無疑是刺耳的。對我這樣身為一個土生土長的台灣人，同時也是堅持中國認同的統派來說，我也覺得在情感上沒必要去特別比較兩岸「半殖民地」、「殖民地」的差別，畢竟大陸、台灣都是中國的土地，那是一頁因祖國弱亂，兩岸中國人都飽受帝國主義壓迫的滄桑史。

但是，某種程度來說，沈教授的話是「話糙理不糙」。試想：台獨長期以來的史觀，為了去中國化，硬是把什麼荷蘭、西班牙、日本都當成「台灣多元文化的一元」，想塑造台灣有多個「祖先」，甚至長期美化日本殖民，這不等於也是承認，只要你拳頭都大、實力夠強，就可以「征服」我，我反而還會「感謝」你？

台獨的「同心圓史觀」，去除台灣社會的文化主體當然是中華文化，卻只談各種政權都來統治，都是「祖國」，尤其對日本更充滿孺慕之情，這其實就是一種「霸權征服論」，和沈逸所說其實是一樣的。

當然，大陸對台政策主調仍是追求心靈契合，這也是他們理解台灣人有過被日本殖民，加上後來許多具有祖國認同的台灣人又被捲入白色恐怖，確實遺留下歷史悲情，需要用更多心力去撫平。而這份真摯善意，在當前兩岸敵意螺旋下是何等的珍貴，可台灣不少人卻反而更玩弄這份感情，非挑釁出衝突不可。尤其如閩南狼之流竟還做RAP嘲諷大陸「打不打」、「什麼時候打」，不都在逼大陸真得用拳頭說話，「揍一頓就完了」？

This is especially true of lithium, a vital component of EV batteries. Brazil has huge reserves of lithium, but it was only after the establishment of China’s EV plants that deep investments were made to recover it. Now, Brazil’s lithium industry is the most productive in the world on a cost basis, and will expand another 600% in the next four years.
